Fuel to Oil Ratio: What is Optimal for a Jet Ski?
Jet ski need to have the right mix of fuel to oil in their engines to ensure that the engine parts continue to function correctly.
Generally speaking, the ideal ratio of fuel to oil is around 50:1. That means that you’ll have 50 times as much fuel as you do oil (for every 5 litres of fuel, you’ll need 100ml of oil). Any higher than this increases the cost (and the smoke) without any real gains in the health of your PWC.
Some jet skis come with Variable Oil Injection. These regulate the fuel to oil ratio depending on the revs per minute the jet ski is doing at the time. This acts to reduce smoke, emissions and cost.

I am thinking about getting some kind of jet ski. How long, on two strokes, do top ends last assuming synthetic oil, proper warmup before throttling up, and 3/4 throttle most times after warm up. Four strokes are nice, but stand by on parts costs and repair bills I suppose. I reckon a five gallon tank would give you about three hours fun at near full throttle, would it?
